Westerville Parks and Recreation is introducing new Senior Center membership rates and requirements effective March 1, 2019. These changes will allow the department to continue offering high-quality senior services.

What happens on March 1?
Existing members will see no change on March 1. Once your membership expires and is up for renewal, the new pricing will take effect.

What are the new age requirements?
The minimum age requirement for a Senior Center membership will increase to 65 years old as of March 1, 2019.

What if I am under the age of 65?
A current member under the age of 65 will continue to be eligible for a Senior Center membership as long as they renew before their anniversary date.

Will my spouse under the age of 65 still be eligible for a membership?
If your spouse currently holds a membership, they will continue to be eligible as long as you renew your pass before the anniversary date. As of March 1, those that do not currently have a membership will not be eligible until the age of 65.

Have the rates increased?
The last membership rate adjustment was in 2004. Over the past 14 years, the cost of doing business has continued to rise while we kept rates low.  It is now necessary to adjust rates to keep up with inflation and ensure we can maintain the high standards you have come to expect.

Will the Senior Center membership change?
You will still receive all the benefits of the Westerville Senior Center including a variety of fitness classes, creative arts, special interest classes and access to the meal program, trips and transportation opportunities. The only change to the membership will be rate and age minimum.

Who approved this increase?
Parks and Recreation Department administrative staff worked diligently with City Council to evaluate membership structure and pricing for all recreation facilities including the Senior Center.  Pricing adjustments were finalized based on inflation and the best current market value for residents.

While older adults in Westerville are among the more active users of the City’s 44+ miles of paths, numerous parks, exceptional aquatic services and our impressive community center, they also have their very own programs and services—the Westerville Senior Center.

We invite you to experience the benefits of our creative programs and helpful services—including improved health, lower stress, new skills, greater independence and lasting friendships and memories. Our staff believes that a smile and hug should be part of everyone’s day, and we’ve got one waiting for you. Hope to see you soon!
