Smothers Road Closing Sept. 15-Nov. 15 Across Hoover Reservoir
The City of Columbus will be performing erosion protection improvements along Smothers Road, closing the roadway between Schott/Red Bank Road and Sunbury Road from September 15-November 15. Motorists are encouraged to use Sunbury Road and Central College Road as east-west alternates across Hoover Reservoir.

Smoke Detector Recall
The Westerville Division of Fire wants you to know about the recall of three models of smoke detectors. These Kidde hard-wired smoke and combination smoke/carbon monoxide (CO) alarms are being recalled due to potential failure to alert of a fire or a CO incident following a power outage.

City Welcomes Kevin Weaver as New Westerville Public Service Director
Kevin Weaver has been named the Director of Public Service for the City of Westerville, replacing Frank Wiseman who retires this month after 31 years in the public service industry. With confirmation provided by Westerville City Council on August 12, Weaver starts his position on Monday, September 15.

Brian Miller Named City of Westerville Fire Chief
Brian Miller, a 15-year veteran of the Westerville Division of Fire, has been named Westerville Fire Chief, replacing Chief Bernie Ingles who is retiring after 37 years in the fire service. Chief Miller officially starts his new position on Saturday, September 13.

Ohio Energy Project Celebrates Student Leadership in Westerville with National Award
The Ohio Energy Project’s (OEP) annual Youth Energy Celebration welcomed more than 250 students, teachers and partners from around the state to recognize innovative solutions to contemporary energy challenges. The Celebration was held on May 13, 2014, at the Fawcett Center at the Ohio State University. In Westerville, 20 students and four educators were recognized for their outstanding work this school year through the Westerville Energy Education Partnership.

Westerville Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association Named "2014 Association of the Year"
The Westerville Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association (WCPAAA) was recently named the "2014 Alumni Association of the Year" at the 16th annual National Citizen's Police Academy Association Conference in Tucson, AZ. This award recognizes the outstanding quality of WCPAAA programs and activities, as well as the association's overall contribution to the vitality and well being of the Westerville community.
