Fire Prevention Week (October 4-10) is coming soon, and the Westerville Fire Division (WFD) will again host its annual family-friendly Open House on Sunday, October 4 from 1-4 p.m. at all three fire houses. Representatives from the Westerville Electric Division, Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s, OhioHealth and the Citizen’s Auxiliary Resource Team will provide visitors with a fun, interactive educational experience. The “Safety Bunch” puppet show and Jaws-of-Life vehicle extrication demonstration will take place at Fire Station 111 (400 W. Main St).

Auto Extrication
Watch as firefighters, rescue technicians and paramedics cut apart a vehicle to rescue and treat an injured person in this mock car crash simulation.
Safety Bunch Puppet Show
Through a series of safety skits, this fun show features WFD’s very own puppet troupe, “The Safety Bunch.” Kids of all ages will learn important safety messages, including how to be “fire safe” at home and what to do in case of a fire.
Fire Safety House
Have you ever wondered what to do if you woke up to a fire in your home? Fire safety experts will train you and your children on how to safely get out of your house if you were to wake up to a beeping smoke detector in the middle of the night.
Fire Extinguisher Simulator
Would you know how to operate a fire extinguisher in the event of a fire? Learn how to operate an extinguisher on a fire simulator provided by Bensen Fire & Safety Consultants.
