Step 1: Come up with an exciting topic to teach!

Step 2: Read through the Department’s Contractual Instructor Guide to ensure it would be a good fit for you. This includes understanding background checks, policies and procedures and payments.  

Step 3: Fill out the Program Proposal Form. You may also pickup a printed form at the Westerville Community Center. Please allow two weeks for a response.

Please note: Turning in a form does not guarantee the program will be accepted. Applications are reviewed as they are submitted. A staff member will contact you once your application is reviewed. 

• Objectives meet the City’s values
• Meets current society trends
• Target audience being served
• Instructor's or sport official's experience
• Certifications and affiliations
• Proposed cost of the program
• Does not conflict with or duplicate an existing City-based program.

• Pass a pre-agreement background check

Once your background check is approved, City staff will provide the following documents:

• Instructor Contractual Service Agreement
• Financial information 
  • PEDACKN
  • W-9
  • ACH/Direct Deposit

• Develop a curriculum for the program
• Collect and provide supplies 
• Recruit staff, if needed (must follow the same pre-work requirements)
• Following the policies and procedures outlined in the Contractual Instructor Guide
• Provide an invoice at the end of your program
