Westerville Parks and Recreation embarked on an extensive planning process for the expansion of the facility. This process was rooted in community input through surveys, open houses and charrettes. See how the project evolved from the images and presentations below.
Community Center Expansion Update: June 13, 2017
Public Planning Sessions: April 25 and 26, 2017
During the April planning sessions, those in attendance were given an opportunity to plan what should be included in the expansion using these results and a specific set of guidelines.
- All spaces must be multi-functional to accommodate several types of programs with limited dedicated space
- Outdoor space needs to compliment indoor program opportunities
- Passholder, member and visitor comfort must be at a forefront of updated design options
Three concept options were then compiled by Williams Architects and displayed for the community’s input.
Public Engagement Sessions: March 14 and 15, 2017
During each of these sessions, residents voted on ideas and opportunities to help shape the exterior and interior of the Community Center. During this process, staff and designers received interactive, hands-on feedback from the community about the wants and needs residents have when it comes to an expanded Community Center. You can review the voting outcomes of each session in the individual videos below.
